We had a party!

Dear readers,

In this, our final post, we want to share with you the culmination of our blog.

We had a blog party!!

It just seemed fitting to celebrate this year with friends, food, drinks, and, of course, dessert. Jen hosted in her lovely backyard and we encouraged everyone to make something that they had read about on the blog. Cheers to the people who actually did that!

We've posted all the photos after the jump to share with you.

Thanks again for taking this blog journey with us, it was really fun!
If you ever want recipes or want to talk cooking, please contact us through the Letters From My Kitchen facebook page.  :)

Closing Letter

Dear Readers,

As you may have figured out, Jennifer and I are bringing our blog to a close. We have loved this experiment and all the delicious-ness that came of it, but we've decided this is the right stopping point. I think it's better to stop while something is still good rather than drag it out until it gets bad! That being said, we will have ONE more post for you. Be patient with us, it won't be posted for another few weeks, as it's based on something that hasn't happened yet.

We also want to say thank you to you! We wouldn't have enjoyed this nearly so much if all of our readers weren't out there suggesting recipes, telling us what sounded good, and just generally being awesome.  If you'd like, leave us a comment below about a recipe you've enjoyed reading about or one you've tried. We love hearing from you!

Until the last post,

-Jessica

PS. Here are two picture from the very first posts we did. Remember these recipes? We've come a long way!

Z is for ...Amaretto Zabaglione! (Jennifer)

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay in posting this last week's Z recipe--I think I was just having trouble coming to terms with the fact that this will be the last recipe post for the blog! Wow! I can hardly believe it was a little over a year ago when Jessica and I started this blogging adventure. It's been a lot of fun, and I'm so grateful to have had Jessica as my blogger-in-crime for this project! She is awesome and now the proud holder of an M.Ed!! Woohoo, Jessica!!

So, this week's recipe is actually harder to spell than it is to make...not that it was super easy, but the spelling is way more difficult--trust me! This recipe is from Bon Appetit, and pairs with another recipe of theirs for a bread pudding. However, I've read several reiterations of this recipe and have learned that you can eat it with strawberries, too. A great way to enjoy the bounty of the season!

Z is for Zucchini: Leek and Zucchini Pie (Jessica)

Hello all,

Here I am to write this post about this recipe and all I'm thinking about is all the other recipes I've made in the past year! A lot can happen in a year, but Jen and I have kept this blog constant through all of that. Did I ever tell you that she came up with challenge idea and I came up with the alphabet idea? Maybe I did, but did I tell you that I thought of it on a walk to the bathroom?? Oh yes, this idea was conceived in the opposite of a kitchen! Anyway, I've learned a lot about cooking, baking, and adapting recipes. Best of all, I feel comfortable in a kitchen now. No fear when it comes to recipes (ok, minimal fear...I still haven't tried tiramisu)! So, without further ado, here is this savory pie recipe, delicious!

Y is for Yogurt: French Yogurt Cake (Jennifer)

Hello readers!

I can hardly believe we are rounding the corner to the end of our blog journey. I'm getting more and more sentimental with each and every last post! *Sniff, sniff* Something that brightened up my world, however, was this French yogurt cake. If you Google search "French yogurt cake," you'll find hundreds of variations. It was this one, however, that caught my attention; particularly so for the wonderful array of tips, advice, and variations the writer provides along with the recipe. I highly recommend clicking on "NY Times Diners Blog" link below for more info on French yogurt cake! Enjoy!
