W is for White Chocolate Oreo Truffles (Jennifer)

Hello!

Hope everyone has been enjoying the fall season thus far! I love fall. Love, love, love it. Wish the temperatures would hover around the high 60's, low 70's forever. It's just perfect. Perfect for baking, cooking and just being in the kitchen. I love the feel of the air, the sweaters being stocked in stores and the fall-inspired beverages offered at Starbucks. I always feel more inspired, more energized and more productive with the fall season. I should have been a fall baby. : )

Ok, where were we again? Oh, yes, this week's recipe. Earlier this week I told Jessica I didn't care much for white chocolate. And then I thought twice and remembered that I do enjoy white chocolate in certain contexts, including Jessica's Oatmeal Cherry White Chocolate Chip Cookies and White Chocolate Macademia Nut Cookies--yum. I also enjoy it when contrasted with strong and rich flavors like dark chocolate ganache, mocha and oh-yes-please, oreo!

White Chocolate Oreo Truffles
Recipe amended from here

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) package Oreos
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages white chocolate baking squares (or white chocolate bark), melted

Directions

  1. Crush cookies to fine crumbs in food processor (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Add cream cheese; mix until well blended. Scoop cookie mixture into balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Refrigerate cookie balls until firm, about a half hour.

2. Remove from fridge. Dip balls in chocolate; place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. (Any leftover chocolate can be stored at room temperature for another use.) Sprinkle with cookie crumbs or any other fun sprinkles you have on hand.

3. Refrigerate again until firm, about 1 hour. Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.

Review:
These white chocolate oreo truffles are so easy to make! I have my good friend Denae (shout out to Denae!) to thank for sharing with me the sheer delight that is the oreo truffle ball. And, as you can see, there are many variations you can do once you get the oreo center squared away. I put most of mine on lollipop sticks and turned them into a white chocolate oreo pop, or the white chocolate oreo pumpkins you see which could also be any shape you'd like by using a mini cookie cutter. There are probably thousands of variations you could do with these. You might also try different oreos, too, like the mint oreos. Yum! Happy eating!

Cheers,
Jennifer
